You will also find a children’s playground perfect for the little ones. Chair and umbrella rentals are available so you can leave everything at home. This is also one of the few beaches that permits alcohol on the beach in case you were wishing you had an adult beverage in hand. Stewart Beach has similar amenities and has been voted as a top family friendly beach park. Babe’s Beach is another local beach that has the clearest water that sparkles in the sun. By the end of March, you will find the Gulf water to be warm enough for swimming. Make sure to pack everything you need for a beach day including sandals, swimming clothes, sunscreen, and shades. All Galveston beaches will open up their amenities this year starting on March 9th, just in time for your Spring Break in the area.

Hit the Beach

It should go without saying that Spring Break is a great time on the beach. The weather is finally warmer, and the sun is shining overhead, inviting you to hit up the closest beach during your stay. Galveston has over 32 miles of beautiful beaches stretched along the coast. Since Galveston is an island, you will find the majority of the popular beaches located on the east side, facing out towards the Gulf. Popular beaches that we highly recommend visiting include East Beach, Stewart Beach, Seawall Beach Urban Park, and much more. East Beach typically features two weekends of professional sandcastle lessons that are absolutely free right around Spring Break. You can even check out Galveston Island State Park that also features a variety of beaches. Don’t forget about the west side of the island, too, for quieter beaches that face the mainland. Don’t worry if you did not bring your own beach gear, as there are several rental shops located across most beaches here in Galveston. Lifeguards are usually on duty, so make sure to stick close to them when playing around in the surf.

Check Out Schlitterbahn Waterpark

If you end up taking a late Spring Break getaway in April, make sure to check out the grand opening of Schlitterbahn Waterpark for the season. Schlitterbahn is a renowned water park that offers incredible water slides, waves pools, lazy rivers, and more. The park will open up for the season on Saturday 4/20, as the water is a nice cool temperature, perfect for the warmer weather. Book a cabana so you can have time under the shade as you let the kids run around having an absolute blast. Don’t miss out on checking out Schlitterbahn during your Spring Break stay!

Hit Up Galveston Island’s Historic Pleasure Pier

Galveston Island’s Historic Pleasure Pier is Galveston’s historic attraction right on the edge of the water. The Pier really does have something for everyone to enjoy during your Spring Break. First up, you simply cannot beat the thrilling amusement park rides they offer. The Iron Shark Rollercoaster will have you going through twists and turns. The Texas Star Flyer will spin you around up high in the air. The Pirate’s Plunge is perfect on a warm day where you take a steep plunge on a rollercoaster track down into a water pit. It is even better to see these attractions at night when they are lit up in thousands of dazzling lights.

Visitors will also be able to find a variety of midway games that give you the chance to earn cool prizes. Try your hand at classic games such as ring toss and Whac-a-Mole. The 5D Theater Ride will take you on a journey through the senses into a dark mine and face prehistoric predators in this thrill experience. There are plenty of spots to grab food around the area too. Dine out at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. or try out quick eats from vendor food stands. A day at Galveston Island’s Historic Pleasure Pier is just what you need for Spring Break.
