Step Back in Time in Galveston 

Located at 2618 Broadway Avenue, Moody Mansion is open to the public daily between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. This massive property is eye-catching and impressive, dating back to 1895 and boasting 28,000 square feet of space over four stories. The mansion sits on the National Register of Historic Places and is also a Recorded Texas Historical Landmark as of 1967. A visit here is a chance for guests to step into the home of what was once one of the most powerful families in Texas. The Moody family built their fortune on cotton and expanded into banking, insurance, publishing, ranching, and hospitality over time. The mansion was originally designed by British architect William H. Tyndall and the interior was the world of the renowned design firm Pottier & Stymus hailing from New York. The mansion belonged to the Moody family through 1983 but had to be restored following significant hurricane damage. In 1991, the mansion transitioned into a house museum showcasing original furnishings and personal family effects.

Self-guided tours and two-hour guided experiences alike are available to enjoy at Moody Mansion. Tours travel through 20 of the mansion’s rooms offering up a comprehensive look at what the luxurious Moody family lifestyle was like at the time. Self-guided tours start at $15 a person while guided tours can be enjoyed at $35 per person.
