Easter Service

For those who celebrate Easter with their faith you will find plenty of local organizations offering Easter service this year. Locations such as Seawall Church and Church of the Living God will offer services all Easter Weekend in Galveston. Houston also has various locations of services including Saint Martin’s Episcopal Church. Just because you are on vacation does not mean you will have to miss your family tradition of Easter service.

 

Easter Egg Hunts

If you ask the children in your family what makes them the most excited for Easter, they will probably say the Easter egg hunts. These activities are perfect for children as they navigate a park or building looking for brightly colored eggs often filled with candy. Both Galveston and Houston will be offering Easter egg hunts throughout each city. For Galveston, the city will be seeing the return of the Salty Easter Bash located at Stewart Beach Park. This event is often a popular one here in Galveston as it offers over 20,000 Easter eggs perfectly hidden at the park along with prize opportunities with special eggs. The Easter Bunny is typically on hand for photo ops along with local vendors. The event is free and will take place on Saturday April 8th this year. Fallbrook Church also offers a yearly Easter egg hunt here in Galveston and is great for kids of all ages. They break down their egg searches in age brackets for everyone has a fair shot at finding some eggs. Age brackets are broken down with ages 0-2, ages 3-5, ages 6-9, and ages 10-12. This event also takes place on Saturday April 8th.

Houston will also be bringing in plenty of exciting Easter egg hunts but a little earlier. You will find Easter egg hunts taking place this year on Saturday April 1st including the popular Westminster Easter After Dark. This is an Easter egg hunt at night where children have a flashlight to help them track down glow in the dark eggs. This event has been very popular for the last three years! The Brenda and John Duncan YMCA will also host their annual Egg-stravaganza on April 1st from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. You will have plenty of opportunities for the kids to have a blast this Easter!

 

Easter Brunch

While the children typically love a good Easter egg hunt the adults know the real fun is at Easter brunch. This occasion is the perfect time to treat yourselves to a delicious meal full of buffet style options and morning cocktails. In Galveston, locals know that Hearsay on the Strand offers one of the best Easter brunches in town. This location offers delicious New American entrees and craft cocktails all inside a historic space complete with eclectic décor. You can also find locations in Houston too! Guests can also find a vegetarian menu to choose from too. Other great spots in Galveston that are known for delicious brunch are Number 13 that offers fine dining entrees such as prime cuts of steak and their Easter brunch is a buffet style. BLVD Seafood is another great option that offers fresh seafood and steak along with their Easter brunch.

Houston has plenty of exciting spots to check out for Easter brunch too. You will find fine Creole dining when you stop in Brennan’s of Houston. This local staple in the fine dining community offers an incredible Easter brunch that is often booked weeks in advance. You will find New Orleans entrees and character when you stop in. Backstreet Café is another great option that focuses on New American cuisine along with gourmet cocktails in their converted house.
